Social Services
There are a variety of public services available to support Seniors, and we are here to help you determine your eligibility and navigate the necessary paperwork.

This is a USDA Food Program that is designed to improve the health and nutrition of senior citizens. You must be at least 60 years of age and your total household income must be at or below the following (Updated 3/2025):

To register for this program, please call or see the Social Services Coordinator. Proof of age, residency, and income are required during the application process.
The monthly CSFP Food Package generally contains: 4 vegetables, 2 juices, 2 fruits, 1 protein, 2 cereals, 1 protein alternate, milk product, carbohydrate, and 2 lbs. cheese.
USDA Nondiscrimination Statement 2025

Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.) should contact the State or local Agency that administers the program or contact USDA through the Telecommunications Relay Service at 711 (voice and TTY). Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.
To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at How to File a Program Discrimination Complaint and at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. To request a copy of the complaint form, call (866) 632-9992. The Senior Farmer's Market Voucher program provides low income seniors with vouchers to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables at approved farmer's markets and stands in Pennsylvania. Vouchers are typically available for distribution in June. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility requirements for 2025:
1) You must be 60 yrs. or older, and
2) a Montgomery County resident, and
3) income below $2,413/mo. or $28,953/yr. for one person, or $3,261/mo. or $39,128/yr. for a couple.
All available Farmer's Market Vouchers for 2025 have been distributed.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps families living on low incomes pay their heating bills in the form of a cash grant. Households in immediate danger of being without heat can also qualify for crisis grants. The cash grant is a one-time payment sent directly to the utility company/fuel provider to be credited on your bill. These grants range from $200 to $1,000 based on household size, income, and fuel type.
The income guidelines for 2024-25 for homeowners and renters were as follows:

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) accepts applications each year between November and April, or until all the funds are distributed.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program supports homeowners and renters across Pennsylvania. This program provides a rebate ranging from $380 to $1,000 to eligible older adults and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
This program supports Pennsylvania homeowners and renters who meet the following criteria.
Age Criteria
65 and older
Widows and widowers 50 and older
People with disabilities 18 and older
Income Criteria
In addition to age requirements, to qualify for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate, your household income must be $46,520 or less annually.
Supplemental rebates are also available to provide relief to applicants with the most need. These rebates are automatically calculated for property owners with $31,010 or less in income whose property taxes are more than 15% of their total income
Applications for 2024 Property Tax/Rent Rebates are due by June 30, 2025. Under Pennsylvania law, the Department of Revenue evaluates the program before the June 30 deadline every year. If extra funds are available, the deadline is extended to December 31. The deadline HAS been extended until Dec 31st 2025. Applications postmarked by that date will be accepted for processing.
Several area school districts (including North Penn, Wissahickon, Upper Dublin, Norristown, and Methacton) now offer a tax rebate to their residents who have first qualified for the latest PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate for 2024. Once you receive the state's rebate for 2024, you can apply to the school district for their additional rebate from 7/1/2025 through 6/30/2026.

Free shared ride services to your closest Senior Center are available if you are age 65 or older.
To schedule a ride, cancel a ride, or inquire about TransNet registration, call the SPARK Harleysville front desk @ 215-256-6900, or the SPARK Lansdale front desk @ 215-362-7432.
Rides must be booked at least one day in advance.

We offer the 8 hr Safe Driver course and 4 hr refresher course throughout the year. Participants 55 years of age or older may qualify for a state mandated discount on their automobile insurance premium. Contact your insurance company to determine your eligibility & bring your driver's license to class. The fee is $20 for AARP members, $25 for non-members.

SPARK Senior Centers of MontCo is proud to offer this free service by IRS-trained AARP volunteers during the tax filing season. This trusted and reliable service is offered to low- and moderate-income households, generally under ~$65,000 in annual income. Current Gold and Lifetime Members of SPARK Senior Centers will be given priority in scheduling an appointment starting in January.

Free legal consultations are offered by appointment only. Call the Center of your choice to schedule.

Free, unbiased counseling for Medicare benefits, Medigap insurance and Medicaid is offered by trained volunteers. If you are turning 65 this year and becoming eligible for Medicare, this is a valuable resource of reliable information.
Appointments are offered on Wednesdays in Lansdale, and on select Thursdays each month in Harleysville. Call the front desk of the center of your choice to make an appointment.

Office staff from our local legislative offices will be on site to help you with resources offered to Seniors by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Apply for a SEPTA Senior Fare Card, receive guidance with PA Property Tax and Rent Rebate, check for Unclaimed Property, and more! This is also a time to share any feedback you have for our legislators directly with their staff.
Staff from PA State Representative Donna Scheuren’s Office will be in Harleysville on the 2nd Friday of each month.
Staff from PA State Senator Tracy Pennycuick’s Office will be in Harleysville for periodic special engagements.
Staff from PA State Representative Steve Malagari’s Office will be in Lansdale on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
Staff from PA State Senator Maria Collett’s Office will be in Lansdale on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Need help with a computer, smartphone, or tablet? Volunteers at each center provide 1:1 tech tutoring sessions by appointment to help you stay connected in this digital world. Call the Center of your choice to schedule an appointment. Appointments are generally offered on Wednesdays in Harleysville and Fridays in Lansdale.
