Volunteer Opportunities

Our Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. As a non-profit with a small staff, we rely on volunteers of all ages to help with nearly everything that happens here! Whether you love serving meals, leading activities, helping with a special project, lending a listening ear, or simply spreading smiles, there’s a place for you here. We have a variety of needs that are accessible to all different types of people, and it’s totally ok if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for yet. Join us and be the spark that makes our community shine!

Learn More About the Volunteer Positions

  • We serve our guests daily lunches with volunteer wait staff. There are opportunities to plate and serve meals, clean and set tables, make coffee, and clean up after meals. Cafe staff are needed between the hours of 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

    Volunteers work in teams and generally commit to a regular, weekly schedule. We also welcome volunteers who are willing to be trained and come in on a periodic basis.

  • We serve our guests daily lunches with volunteer wait staff. There are opportunities to serve meals, clear tables, and wash dishes. Kitchen and waitstaff are needed between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm.

    Volunteers work in teams and generally commit to a regular weekly schedule. We also welcome volunteers who are willing to be trained and come in on a periodic basis.

  • Volunteers are often the first point of contact at our Centers, making this role critical to our success as it helps set the tone for member and visitor experiences.

    Our front desk volunteers act as greeters to welcome folks into our Centers, answer questions, provide tours, and act as ambassadors for our Centers. They also answer phones and assist with light administrative tasks as needed.

    Greeters generally work a half day (morning or afternoon) on a regular, weekly schedule and may share this duty with 1-2 other volunteers depending on the daily needs of the Center.

  • Throughout the year we have bulk mailings which require assistance from volunteers. These duties include folding letters, stuffing and sealing envelops, and adhering labels and stamps. This volunteer position is "as needed."

  • On occasion, we need help with light maintenance and “handyman” type work. This could include organizing a storage room, changing light bulbs, light painting, or minor repairs. If you have skills in any of these areas, please let us know and we will call on you as needed.

  • Do you have a skill or area of expertise you would like to share or teach as a part of a regular meeting group, or as a special class or seminar? Whatever your area of knowledge, our participants would love to try something new. Many of our current programs are led by volunteers. Will you be next?

  • Calling all singers, dancers, musicians, and entertainers! We love to offer entertainment as a part of our program calendar and we would love to have you come share your gifts with us as entertainment during one of our lunches, or as a special featured event.

General Volunteer FAQs

  • The minimum age to volunteer independently is 16. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Intake paperwork is required of all volunteers.

    Regular volunteers are asked to complete periodic trainings to comply with our insurance requirements.

    A background check will be completed for all volunteers, please reach out if you have any questions.

  • Our Senior Centers are heavily supported by the volunteer work of Seniors so we are well versed in adapting to the variety of needs found within an aging population. The majority of volunteer opportunities are accessible and inclusive to individuals of many ages and abilities.

    Our volunteers work in teams with complimenting skill sets in order to provide fulfilling opportunities for people of all abilities. Some positions do require specific proficiencies, but we would love to work with you to find a volunteer opportunity that is a great fit.

  • Absolutely! We regularly work with groups of volunteers from local schools as well as The Variety Club, which offers vocational training for young adults with disabilities.
